MIGAS Apprentices & Trainees together with Thiess are looking for the next generation of talented apprentices for roles in Auto Electrical, Plant Mechanics and Electrical to join their team.

A bit about Thiess

Thiess is an international mining services company operating in Australia, Asia, Africa and the Americas. The role Thiess has in the mining industry is to provide solutions for:

Electrician Apprenticeship
Are you tech-savvy and fascinated by all things electrical? Did you complete electrical projects during school or at TAFE, found yourself drawn to tinkering with electronics, and want the chance to work on and understand bigger projects on an industrial or commercial scale? If you have an investigative mind, are a math whiz and an eye for detail, an Electrical Apprenticeship could be for you.

You will learn the ins and outs of performing high voltage electrical repairs and maintenance on a variety of mobile mining and related equipment.

Have you ever pulled apart an engine just to put it back together again, or have you ever wanted the chance to change from working on your car to something a lot bigger?

You will learn all about servicing, repairing and maintaining a variety of large scale mining and related equipment.

  • WHAT DO I NEED TO APPLY?

    You will need a cover letter and a resume highlighting your interests in the chosen trade and the relevant skills you bring to the apprenticeship.

    A cover letter is your opportunity to tell us:

    • A little bit about you
    • Why you want the apprenticeship
    • What makes you right for this role

    Tell us about what interests you, what you do in the local community, and why it will make you a great apprentice.

    Think of your resume as a catalogue of your skills and experience. We’d like to see your school subjects listed with your grades and any pre-vocational certificates you have completed, plus any full-time or part-time work. Additionally, please include details of any relevant school or home projects that are related to the role.

    Make sure you include any work experience or volunteer work where you may have had the opportunity to be part of a team. And don’t forget to list any clubs or groups you are actively involved in.

  • CAN I APPLY FOR EACH OF THE ROLES?

    Yes, you certainly can.

    To be considered for these roles you must apply for each position separately.

    Electrical trades and Mechanical trades are two very different specialisations that require different strengths and interests.

    We suggest you develop a tailored cover letter for each role highlighting your strengths for the different apprenticeships on offer.

  • WHEN DO APPLICATIONS CLOSE?

    Applications are currently open and close on Friday 2 July 2021.

  • HOW WILL I BE NOTIFIED IF I’M SHORTLISTED OR UNSUCCESSFUL?

    At each stage, every effort will be made to contact candidates directly either via email or phone.

    Shortlisted candidates can expect a phone call and an email confirming their progression and will include details about the next step of the process.

    Due to the number of applications we receive, unsuccessful candidates can expect an email in accordance with their progression stage.

  • WHAT HAPPENS NEXT IF I’M SUCCESSFUL?

    If you are successful, you will be provided with a copy of your employment contract and all other documents regarding your employment with MIGAS Apprentices & Trainees.

    From here you will have direct communication with your appointed Field Officer regarding your MIGAS and Thiess inductions and any additional tickets required before working at Thiess.
