The opportunity
Undertaking this four-year apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to become a qualified Diesel Mechanic by earning your Certificate III Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (AUR 31116). During your apprenticeship you’ll learn how to:
- Overhaul, service and repair the mechanical parts of road transport vehicles such as the engine, transmission (clutch, gear box and differential) and the suspension systems (springs, steering, brakes, wheels and tyres);
- Fault find and carry out diagnosis procedures;
- Repair and service cooling systems, diesel fuel systems, air-conditioning, engine forced induction systems, and clutch assemblies; and
- Carry out repairs of ignition, electronic engine management, electrical systems, and safety/roadworthy inspections.

Who we’re looking for
This apprenticeship is for people who like to work hard, not afraid to get dirty, enjoy all things mechanical and those who want to work on a bigger scale. We are looking for an individual who is mechanically minded and committed to completing this trade and becoming qualified. In addition to this you’ll need:
- Manual Drivers Licence
- Have good motor skills;
- Be enthusiastic, mature-minded and possess good communication skills;
- Have a high mechanical aptitude, including a proficiency with mathematics; and
- Have no skin allergies or reactions to grease, oil or petrol
