The Opportunity

This full-time opportunity will allow you to complete a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade via an apprenticeship of 4 years’ duration. You will gain valuable hands-on experience, skills and support and have the potential to secure a long-term career with BOC Australia - the industry leader in industrial gases. 

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will work alongside highly skilled tradesmen to perform repairs and maintenance on gas manufacturing and gas cylinder filling equipment. Based in Wetherill Park, you will be working in BOC's new gas filling facility and have exposure to their newly installed, modern automation systems.

Mechanical fitters use a range of tools and engineering techniques to maintain and repair mechanical plant machinery and equipment to operational standards. Work includes the identification of defective or worn mechanical components or equipment, repair/replacement of worn/faulty components or equipment, and modifications. Parts may be repaired or manufactured using the general application of workshop machines. 

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for motivated candidates who are committed to developing their mechanical trade career through the completion of an apprenticeship. You will take pride in completing all tasks accurately and to a high standard, as well as having an aptitude for mathematics. You will have a passion for mechanical work, an enthusiasm to learn and be willing to go the extra mile to impress.

To be successful, you will possess the following:

  • Current driver’s licence; with reliable transport (preferred)
  • Have a minimum of Year 10 schooling completion with a solid performance in mathematics A strong mechanical aptitude
  • A strong attention to detail
  • Be comfortable to perform physical work in sometimes demanding conditions
  • Be reliable and punctual
  • Commitment to attending TAFE and passing all practical and theory-based training requirements of an apprenticeship

Applicants who have completed relevant pre-apprenticeship training or work experience within the mechanical or metals and engineering trades will be very highly regarded
