Movember 2019

Movember 2019

Now that it’s November, we here at MIGAS would like to talk about the Movember Campaign. Movember started in 2003 and its goal is to raise money and awareness for men’s health and prostate cancer research.

Movember started in Melbourne with two mates wanting to bring the moustache back into fashion. Since then Movember has expanded into a worldwide campaign that raises millions of dollars every year for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.

How can you participate in Movember at work?
There are 3 ways in which people can take part in Movember to raise money.

  • Growing a Moustache: Start clean-shaven, then let your Mo take the spotlight and start a conversation.
  • Make your move: Accept a 60 kilometres challenge by running or walking 60 Kilometres over the month you are raising awareness for the 60 men we lose to suicide each hour, every hour across the world.
  • Choose to Host a Mo-ment: This Movember is a great chance to get together with your mates and raise some money for a good cause.

Movember has a momentous history and to date has raised over $800 Million for Men’s health with more than 5 million people participating in the fundraising. Movember’s goal is to reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25%. For a full history and list of achievements, Movember has had, check out: Movember History

MIGAS supports Movember in their goals as a majority of our apprentices and trainees are young men that can be most affected by the aliments that Movember raises money for.
