Carolyn Barker AM, Chair
Carolyn Barker AM is an experienced CEO of organisations in both the private sector and listed environments, having led businesses in law, media, transport services, private education and commercial services. She is currently the CEO of Shine Justice in Australia, New Zealand and internationally. Carolyn's expertise is in organisational restructure, executive management, strategic planning, and innovation.
Her company director experience spans two decades, having been a director or chair of a number of public company, private, government, and not for profit boards in parallel to her CEO roles. Carolyn chaired the Queensland Symphony Orchestra in the early 2000s and until recently was Chair of the Transport for Brisbane Board. She currently chairs the private education company, Australian Performing Arts Conservatory.
Carolyn is a Member of the Order of Australia (AM), awarded in 2005 for service to business through management and educational organisations and to the arts. Carolyn is a QUT School of Business Alumni Award winner. She has trained as a nationally accredited mediator.
James Slade-Symons, Deputy Chair
James Slade-Symons is an experienced managing director and board member, with a career spanning FTSE, ASX, middle market and start-up enterprises. As the Managing Partner of Macarthur Human Capital, he leads an HR consultancy which specialises in aligning employees to business objectives.
James has become one of Australia's leading authorities in the field of "people metrics", strategic workforce planning, behavioural science, and workforce capability. His business has expanded into the global ecommerce market, making Macarthur Human Capital the largest bespoke test content provider of its kind.
Rod Margetts, Treasurer and Company Secretary
Rod Margetts is an experienced board member, senior executive and business consultant. He is a director of the Western Queensland Primary Health Network, and chair of the WQPHN Finance and Audit Risk Management Committee. Rod is owner and Principal Consultant of Oxford Associates, a consultancy firm specialising in innovative business improvement, business analytics, and the provision of business management advice to government and private sector clients in Australia and New Zealand.
Rod is regularly sought out and engaged in interim CFO roles and has previously held a number of high-profile executive positions including Chief Financial Officer of the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service, Chair of the Queensland Health CFO Network, Chief Operating Officer for SkillsTech Australia, Director Business Analysis at the Qld Department of Employment and Training, and Director of Financial Business Improvement for Queensland Health.
