The Opportunity

In partnership with Origin Energy, MIGAS is looking for candidates who want to build a long-term career for themselves with a major local employer in the Western Downs. 

In this role you will work towards completion of a UEE30820 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician and a UEE31220 Certificate III in Instrumentation and Control.

This highly sought-after dual trade apprenticeship will be undertaken over five years.

Origin Energy is a leading Australian power energy company with interests in energy retailing, power generation production.

As a full-time Electrical and Instrumentation Apprentice, you’ll learn about all aspects of the Power Station operation. Once completed you will understand and be a specialist in general power operational maintenance delivery and logistics.

About You

We are looking for technically minded candidates who are serious about completing the full term of an Electrical and Instrumentation Apprenticeship, and dedicated to both learn and grow within this industry.

Coupled with a strong desire to build a career, you will be driven to learn new skills and relish taking on new challenges by approaching problem-solving with a creative and innovative mind.

To be successful for this position, we’re looking for candidates with the following attributes:

  • Completed or be in the process of completing your Year 12 certificate or equivalent
  • Maintain a high-level focus on safety and the environment following Origin safety processes and procedures
  • Work collaboratively in designated teams
  • Complete tasks to the highest quality following instructions of supervising tradespeople
  • Good mathematical skills for making precise calculations in the delivery of your work
  • Excellent analytical skills and a proactive attitude
  • Commit to the completion of the qualification, submit assessments as required and attend all allocated shifts
  • Ability to confidently communicate in an effective manner
  • Ready to learn and develop strong health, safety and environment values and principles, while also committing to personal learning and development
  • Able to work a 38-hour a week Monday to Friday roster (including public holiday work)
  • Able to work in physically challenging conditions (e.g. outdoors, in varied weather conditions)
  • Have reliable transport to and from work and hold a current manual driver’s licence with P Plate minimum
  • Ability to pass a Pre-Employment Medical, Drug and Alcohol Screen, and Police Check
