The Opportunity
Partnered with our host, Johnson Controls Australia, we are looking for an Electrical and Instrumentation Apprentice who wants to get hands-on with the tools while completing a Dual Trade qualification UEE30820 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician and a UEE31220 Certificate III in Instrumentation and Control.
This opportunity is ideal for a 3rd or 4th-year Electrotechnology Electrician or Instrumentation and Controls Apprentice looking to broaden their skills across multiple disciplines.
This position is full-time and based at Johnson’s Controls in Windsor office in Brisbane.
Job Details
You will be working alongside industry professionals while completing a blend of on-the-job training and theory coursework and working all over the Brisbane region.
You will develop knowledge of the functions of HVAC equipment, support with programmed maintenance activities, fault finding on complex systems, develop the skills to program and configure the Building Management System and more.
As an Electrical and Instrumentation Apprentice your duties will include:

Support the installation of building automation systems under guidance

Assist with routine maintenance tasks across multiple sites

Work closely with internal teams to build the skills needed for a Controls Technician role

Learn and participate in point-to-point and functional testing of HVAC control systems

Read and interpret wiring diagrams to support installation and maintenance tasks

Aid in monthly planned service maintenance alongside experienced technicians

Develop experience in completing accurate documentation for work completion and invoicing

Train in programming and configuring Building Management Systems (BMS)

Learn to complete all necessary paperwork to support project close-out and billing

Manage, transport, and organise tools and equipment on-site
- Assist with planned repairs, new installations, and commissioning of various air conditioning systems

About You

As well as this we are looking for the following:
- A passion for the industry and wanting a career not a job
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Current flu shot
- CPR/LVR
- Experience with OEM branded control equipment (Metasys) would be highly regarded
- Current driver's licence
- A construction White Card (or be willing to get one)
- Ability to pass a pre-employment Medical, Drug and Alcohol and Police Check
