The Opportunity
In partnership with our host, Fremantle Hydraulics, we are seeking a full-time Mechanical Fitter Apprentice to join their team in Henderson.
Fremantle Hydraulics is a leader in the design, manufacture, sales, and servicing of hydraulic equipment and systems. Since 1992, the company has been innovating and enhancing fluid-powered machinery across the defence, marine and offshore, mining, and transport industries.
This apprenticeship offers the opportunity to become a fully qualified Mechanical Fitter while working towards the completion of a MEM30219 Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Fitter.
Job Details
This role is based in the workshop, where you will gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside skilled tradespeople. You’ll be involved in a variety of mechanical and engineering tasks, contributing to the maintenance, repair, and improvement of essential equipment. The position is ideal for someone who is mechanically minded, detail-oriented, and eager to develop practical skills in a supportive, team-based environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dismantle, replace, and assemble engineering components, including pumps, valves, and rotating equipment
- Perform general machining tasks such as turning, milling, and drilling to support repair and fabrication work
- Use hand and power tools, as well as precision instruments, to complete detailed mechanical tasks with accuracy
- Safely shut down, isolate, and lock out machinery and equipment in line with safety procedures
- Diagnose mechanical faults and wear, report findings, and assist with repair or replacement activities
- Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of hydraulic components and systems
- Collaborate with team members to complete jobs on time and to a high standard

Additionally, we are looking for someone who meets the following requirements:
- Holds a valid driver’s licence
- A Construction White Card
- Demonstrates the ability to follow instructions and work safely
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Previous work experience or a pre-apprenticeship is highly regarded
- Ability to pass a Pre-Employment Medical, Drug & Alcohol Screen, and Police Check
