Wellsite Operations Traineeship

The Opportunity

In partnership with Shell QGC, MIGAS is seeking the next generation of apprentices to join the Shell-operated QGC onshore gas business in Queensland.

We encourage local residents of the Western Downs region who are looking for long-term work to apply.

During this two-year traineeship, you will receive world-class on-the-job training, supported by experienced and committed Tradespeople. You will have the opportunity to become a qualified Wellsite Operator and earn a PMA30120 Certificate III in Process Plant Operations.

Job Details

In this role you will learn how safely and efficiently operate and maintain the equipment necessary for extracting natural gas from wells. 

This includes ensuring the wells are in good condition and producing to their full potential, as well as managing the gas and equipment in line with strict safety protocols. 

You will learn how to collect and monitor data from wells and gathering systems, ensuring smooth and efficient production.

About You

We are seeking candidates who are committed to completing a challenging apprenticeship with excellent long-term career prospects.

In addition to possessing the following attributes, you will value the opportunity to learn new skills:

  • Completed or in the process of completing your Year 12 certificate or equivalent work or training experience
  • Sound mechanical aptitude – an understanding of the underlying forces that indicate mechanical processes
  • Strong attention to detail – able to identify how the smallest things impact the bigger picture
  • Solid mathematical skills for making precise calculations in the delivery of your work
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and collaborate with your colleagues
  • Committed to learning and developing health, safety, and environmental values and principles
  • Please note as part of the onboarding process, applicants may be asked to provide evidence of residence within the Western Downs region
  • Reliable transport to and from work and the ability to obtain a Provisional driver's licence within your first 12 months of employment

You will also be required to pass a pre-employment medical and police check.
