MIGAS Scholarship Program: Investing in the Future of Trades and Apprenticeships

MIGAS is proud to announce the awarding of ten MiScholarship prizes to nine apprentices and trainees across Australia.

The $19,000 worth of prizes includes financial support and professional development funding to assist winning recipients with their career advancement.

The MIGAS scholarship program highlights apprenticeship and trainee talent within Australian skilled trades and invests in the futures of these impressive individuals to support their continued contribution to their industries and the Australian economy.

Message from MIGAS CEO David Hoey:

We are pleased that our decision to postpone the MiScholarship Program until December due to COVID-19 has given the scholarship recipients more options to make the most of their well-deserved prize money, giving them greater access to more professional development opportunities locally and further afield.

Amongst the awards this year was the new Apprentice or Trainee of the Year Award which rewards the most exceptional and outstanding recipient from all scholarship winners, which was won by Emma Scott, MIGAS Fitter and Turner Apprentice at the UQ Queensland Brain Institute.

This has proven to be a great month for Emma who was also named Engineering and Manufacturing Apprentice of the Year at the 2020 TAFE Queensland - SkillsTech Apprentice Awards.

We would like to congratulate the below apprentices and trainees for their determination and dedication to their trade. The applications received in all categories this year were outstanding which resulted in a challenging shortlisting process for panellists. All winners demonstrated exceptional performance and skill while making a significant contribution to their workplace.

Thank you to the host employers and MIGAS Field Officers for providing rich learning opportunities, support and mentorship of the scholarship winners.

We encourage unsuccessful scholarship nominees and new MIGAS apprentices and trainees to discuss their interest in participating in the 2021 MIGAS Scholarship Program with their MIGAS Field Officer and Supervisors when nominations open again.
