The Opportunity

In partnership with Shell’s QGC business, MIGAS is searching for the next generation of apprentices to join operations at the Curtis Island LNG facility in Gladstone.

Kick-start your career in a world-class LNG processing environment, working at the heart of QGC’s midstream operations where natural gas is processed and prepared for export.

You will be given world-class, on-the-job training supported by experienced and committed Electrical/Instrumentation tradespeople. You will also work towards the completion of a UEE30820 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician and a UEE31225 Certificate III in Instrumentation and Control.

Job Details

Throughout this five-year dual trade apprenticeship, you will become skilled in routine maintenance of equipment including repair, fault finding and shutdown activities.

Working on 9 day fortnight roster you will learn how to overhaul electrical/instrumentation equipment on turbines, pumps, compressors and generators all while demonstrating and developing safe work methods.

About You

We are looking for candidates who are committed to completing a technically challenging apprenticeship while operating in a physically demanding field environment with fantastic long-term career prospects.

You will value the opportunity to learn new skills in addition to possessing the following attributes:

  • Permanently based in Gladstone and be available to catch a ferry to Curtis Island from the Maritime Operations Terminal in Gladstone early every workday
  • Completed or in the process of completing your Year 12 certificate or equivalent work or training experience
  • Strong attention to detail – you can identify how the smallest things impact the bigger picture
  • Good mathematical skills for making precise calculations in the delivery of your work
  • Strengths in colour-coding and pattern recognition as part of a diagnostic aptitude
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and collaborate with your colleagues
  • Committed to learning and developing health, safety and environmental values and principles
  • Have reliable transport to and from work and the ability to obtain a Provisional driver's licence within your first 12 months of employment

Please note as part of the onboarding process, applicants may be asked to provide evidence of residence within Gladstone.

You will also be required to pass a pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screen, and police check.
