Painter and Decorator Apprenticeship

The Opportunity

Partnered with our host, Sweetmans Painting, we are seeking a Painter and Decorator Apprentice to join their team in Bellmere.

Sweetmans Painting specialises in residential painting across the Brisbane and Bellmere areas, offering expert interior and exterior painting, fence painting, exterior timber maintenance, roof coatings, and spray painting.

This four-year apprenticeship offers hands-on experience while completing your CPC30620 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating.

Job Details

As an apprentice, you will work alongside experienced tradespeople, gaining practical, hands-on experience on both internal and external residential projects.

This role provides the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge required to become a fully qualified professional in this specialised trade.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General preparation of residential work sites
  • Prepare residential work sites for painting projects
  • Sand and prepare surfaces for painting
  • Sanding and surface preparation
  • Dusting and cleaning areas after work
  • Assisting with both interior and exterior tasks
  • Ensuring work areas are tidy and safe
  • Following directions from supervisors and team leads

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7am to 3pm

This role will involve travel to projects in Bellmere and East Burpengary areas. Overtime may be required depending on project demands.

About You

We are seeking someone who is eager to learn, with a strong interest in painting and decorating industry. You should have a commitment to quality and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Safety-conscious and able to follow site safety rules
  • Curious and motivated to develop their painting skills continuously
  • Comfortable working with painting tools, equipment, and materials
  • Previous work experience or related skills (highly advantageous)
  • Must have a reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s licence
  • Current Construction White Card, or ability to obtain one
  • Ability to pass a Medical, Drug and Alcohol Screen, and Police Check
