MIGAS Apprentices & Trainees has partnered again with Bengalla Mining Company to recruit motivated and enthusiastic local candidates for its annual apprenticeship intake.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor at Bengalla Mining Company, you will complete a four-year apprenticeship and be mentored by qualified tradespeople while building practical mechanical skills in a mining environment.

As part of the maintenance team, you will help support the safe and efficient operation of assets across a 24-hour, 7-day open-cut mine site.

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will qualify as a Mobile Plant Mechanic and achieve a nationally recognised qualification, AUR31220 Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology.

About You

We are looking for motivated candidates with strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and a genuine interest in building a long-term career in the mining industry.

Applicants with a Certificate II pre-vocational qualification in an automotive or mechanical field, or relevant paid or volunteer experience, will be highly regarded.

Other requirements include:

  • Reside in the Upper Hunter Valley, NSW
  • Hold a current driver’s licence or learner permit
  • Have access to reliable transport to and from site
  • Demonstrate strong mathematical aptitude and have completed at least Year 10
  • Be comfortable working at heights and in a physically demanding environment
  • Be able to work independently and contribute effectively to a team
  • Take pride in the quality of your work
  • Be reliable and available for full-time working hours
  • Show a genuine passion for your chosen trade
  • Be committed to completing and passing all practical and theory-based study requirements of your Australian Apprenticeship
  • Be able to pass a medical, drug and alcohol screening, and a police check
