The Opportunity

In partnership with Shell’s QGC business, MIGAS is seeking the next generation of trainees to join operations at QGC's Curtis Island LNG facility in Gladstone.

Launch your career within a world-class LNG processing environment, working at the heart of QGC’s midstream operations where natural gas is processed and prepared for export.

You will receive industry-leading, hands-on training from experienced Production tradespeople while working towards a Certificate III in Process Plant Operations.

Job Details

As a Production Trainee at Shell QGC’s Midstream Operations, you will spend two years developing the skills required to safely and efficiently operate a large-scale LNG plant.

Throughout the traineeship, you will build strong technical, safety, and troubleshooting capabilities while progressing toward becoming a qualified LNG Process Technician.

Key learning areas include:

  • Monitoring plant pressures, temperatures, flow rates, and levels
  • Operating pumps, compressors, valves, and other process equipment
  • Conducting field inspections and routine equipment checks
  • Identifying and responding to abnormal operating conditions
  • Performing plant isolations and preparing equipment for maintenance
  • Working within Permit to Work and safety management systems
  • Taking samples and performing basic product quality testing
  • Participating in emergency response training and drills
  • Understanding LNG production, storage, and export processes

Successful applicants must pass a pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screen, and a police check.

About You

We’re seeking motivated individuals who are committed to completing a technically challenging traineeship in a dynamic and physically demanding environment.

You will also:

  • Be permanently based in Gladstone and able to travel daily via ferry to Curtis Island
  • Have completed (or be completing) Year 12, or hold equivalent work/training experience
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Possess solid mathematical skills for accurate calculations
  • Have the ability to recognise colour-coding and patterns for diagnostic tasks
  • Be a strong communicator and team player
  • Show a genuine commitment to safety, health, and environmental practices
  • Have reliable transport and the ability to obtain a provisional driver’s licence within 12 months

As part of onboarding, you may be required to provide proof of residence in Gladstone.
